Unfortunately the science claim made by Amy Cuddy and her team that power posing leads to actual hormonal changes on a neuroendocrine level seems to have been overreaching. Just when we thought we had seen the light. This does not mean that your body is not a wonderful ressource. Giving yourself enough space, learning how to be comfortable inside your skin, learning about voice and breathing and posture and control and letting go will always be helpful. Everything is connected, when it comes to public speaking.
In a way I am relieved, even though the study will continue to be passed around as rock hard facts. But science needs to be like that: If we cannot reproduce certain results, if there is a possible flaw in a study, we must at least consider changing our views and try again. That is the real power posing, I find. Being open for discussions.
