Tie my shoes , please (or not)
An article from 2012 on the psychology of persuasion was being passed around in presenting land today. ( It says: When an initial request is highly unusual, people are more likely to comply with a demand that follows it.) As often, the comments are much more interesting and give you better insight into people and what makes people tick than the article itself.
I loved the first comment best. Calvin & Hobbes still rock.
Calvin: „Mom, can I ride my tricycle off the roof?“
Calvin’s mom: „No, Calvin.“
Calvin: „Can I set my mattress on fire?“
Calvin’s mom: „No, Calvin.“
Calvin: „Then can I have a cookie?“
Calvin’s mom: „No, Calvin.“
Calvin (to self): „She’s on to me.“
